Hmmm. Gov. Mike Beebe said yesterday
that there were indeed some workforce issues that might have influenced Toyota's
decision to bypass Marion -- specifically some spotty work records among people hired for nearby auto parts plants. Not that anything is wrong with Arkansas workers, mind you. The problem, Beebe suggests, was shoddy screening work on the part of the state (then under presidential candidate Mike Huckabee's
leadership) in supplying workers for those plants. Somehow, I think we haven't heard the last of this.
