The Great Razorback Soap Opera was Topic A for national reporters covering the SEC football confab. Conclusion: It's a thing of the past. From the NY Times:
Four hours after the first question about his tumultuous off-season, which was filled with salacious rumors about his personal life and charges of betrayal to recruits, Houston Nutt looked unfazed. His bright red tie was just slightly askew, and his red handkerchief was straight and crisp in the breast pocket of his jacket.
“I guess everybody likes a soap opera,” said Nutt, the Arkansas football coach. “I think I did O.K. with it today. It was a lot of attention.”
The large crowd of news media members gathered here at the annual Southeastern Conference media days resembled rubberneckers who could not help but peek at the results of a crash. This wreck, however, has been swept off the road, the glass and debris replaced by Nutt’s gleaming smile, the presence of a leading Heisman Trophy candidate, and support teeming inside the state.
Teeming? So says the article -- recruiting is great, players are great, ticket sales are great, etc.
