A Republican filibuster beat the legislation to allow union organizing without a secret ballot election. This allows the current situation, overweighted in favor of bosses who can pressure employees unmercifully in the workplace, to continue. Too bad. Here's a Dumas explainer from a few weeks ago, in case all you've heard is chamber of commerce propaganda.
Party line vote except for one Republican who went with Dems, 51-48 to end filibuster, with 60 needed. Sens. Pryor and Lincoln voted to end the filibuster.
