The NY Times notes
that some forms of merit pay are gaining approval among teachers and teachers unions. Not mentioned is that Arkansas is one of those places. The Arkansas Education Association joined in legislation to experiment with teacher bonuses. It's long forgotten now, but during the great LRSD merit pay debate, the LR Classroom Teachers Association urged the Board to study a merit pay plan in use in Denver. They is how the plans are structured. They should not be solely a function of standardized test performance.
