Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and the Red Cross is out for blood. From their new release sent out today:

“Donating blood during the Memorial Day weekend is a great way to remember someone you love,” said Red Cross Greater Ozarks-Arkansas Region CEO, Erschelle Newsome.  “A single donation could help save up to three lives and what greater gift could you give someone than the gift of life.”

Currently there is a 1.8 day’s supply of blood, with O Positive and O Negative blood types at under a day’s supply.  Donors of all blood types are encouraged to come out and donate to help lower the demand for type O blood.

The donor center at 401 S. Monroe, next to the old Ray Winder Field, on every day except Memorial Day. Check www.giveline.org for a list of other blood drives.
