Caging is also a tactic used to winnow out minority voters from the democratic process. Oh, no, say Republicans, it's just a little ol' innocuous "direct mail" term. Right.

Anyway, it's been discussed today in the Monica Goodling show, in reference to Tim Griffin, who did a little caging in Florida in the interest of installing George Bush in the White House. His good deed was rewarded by an end-around-the-Senate appointment as U.S. attorney in Little Rock, on account of his palship with Karl Rove and Goodling. And that skulduggery has been properly rewarded now with a full-blown national scandal over politicization of the U.S. Justice Department and new federal legislation to end the practice that got Griffin put in office without Senate confirmation. Oh what a tangled web ...
