All the news in the Little Rock School District isn’t of the contentious variety. Today, 68 of the district’s top students were invited to the Clinton Library for the district’s third “Signing Day” sponsored by the Little Rock Public Education Foundation, Twin City Bank and the Little Rock Regional Chamber of Commerce.
All high schools in the district were represented by the seniors, all winners of college scholarships. They talked of their colleges and career aspirations and signed their names and schools to large lists (pictured). The colleges ranged from in-state institutions such as Hendrix College and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock to out-of-state schools including Stanford University and the U.S. Naval Academy.
Speakers included Superintendent Roy Brooks and Bob Birch, president of Twin City, who made one of several references to the late Bill Clark, CEO of CDI Contractors, who died last week. Birch urged students to look to Clark as a model in representing the state of Arkansas.
