Care to raise your property tax by 1.5 mills to raise more capital and operating money for the Central Arkansas Library System in the city of Little Rock?
The idea will be discussed at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the library's Darragh Center.
The tax would build two branches -- in Otter Creek and Central Little Rock -- as well as buy books and produce more money for operations in the city of Little Rock. The tax would be assessed only in Little Rock and spent only in Little Rock.
The current library millage is 3.8 mills.
If my math is correct, a tax of 1.5 mills would cost about $30 a year on a $100,000 house.
The library board backs the idea. It would go on a special election ballot in early October.
