And here's a news tidbit:
Dr. David Alsobrook, the director of the Clinton Library since its opening in 2004, has been telling friends that he'll be leaving in mid-June to become director of the Museum of Mobile, in his hometown. Alsobrook began letting friends and associates know of his decision late last week.
Alsobrook began working on the Clinton project in 2000. He previously worked at the Jimmy Carter Library and served as director of the George H.W. Bush Library.
Presidential library directors are appointed by the archivist of the United States in consultation with the particular president (if he is still living and his family if he is not) and his foundation.
Coincidentally, Allen Weinstein, the George H.W. Bush-appointed Archivist of the United States, will be speaking at the University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service Thursday morning at 8:30. The Clinton Library vacancy will add a newsworthy dimension to his presentation.
