Little Rock native and Utah Jazz point guard Derek Fisher gets attention in the New York Times today for what he’s been doing off the court lately: Skipping playoff games to be with his 10-month-old daughter, who’s being treated for a rare form of cancer in her eye.
The practice gym at UALR’s Stephens Center is named for Fisher, a Parkview High graduate who played for UALR before going to the NBA in 1996.
