It's now on the web. And though it has been called to my attention that some are sick of LR School District topics, I need to note that we have a number of articles this week related to subjects that have been discussed here.
1. An article talking to the current Central High student body president, Brandon Love (pictured), on the state of race relations and the perception that exists of racial division in AP classes and otherwise.
2. His essay on the subject that has gotten wide distribution and several mentions here.
3. An essay by Central principal Nancy Rousseau and counselor Leslie Kearney in response.
4. And an article explaining how the Democrat-Gazette boilerplate on the Central High crisis, dictated by executive editor Griffin Smith to put Orval Faubus in the most favorable light and the federal courts in the worst, is STILL wrong. We didn't clutter up the story with it, but we have the transcript of the hearing, the district judge's ruling and the 8th Circuit ruling that show conclusively that the boilerplate needs yet another rewriting.
UPDATE: Because readers have had questions about AP enrollment at Central, I obtained the following Excel spreadsheet data from the school on white/black enrollment.
