Gov. Mike Beebe
has completed action on legislation from the session, signing everything still pending save one. He vetoed HB 2780, pertaining to identity theft, because he said he feared that it could be misused. (Plus, he vetoed a few more appropriations he deemed clearly local in nature.) He'd already signed a bill to allow victims of identity theft to put "security freezes" on credit reports. He said the bill he vetoed would allow anyone, not just victims, to freeze credit reports. He also cited "awkward" language that might affect disclosure of sensitive information.
