I'm hearing that there's a delay in the big spending bills because the Senate hasn't yet signed on to a couple of deals proposed by Gov. Mike Beebe -- $4 million for an aquifer restoration project in Pine Bluff and $4 million for a forestry research project at UA Monticello. In each case, Beebe would come up with $2 million and the House and Senate $1 million each. For the Senate to come up with the money means the members might have to give up the individual swag each still hopes to carve out of the $20 million shares going to the House and Senate for allotment.
The Senate project list, devised by individual member, is going to make interesting reading. Will it pass Supreme Court muster? I know we can count on Mike Wilson checking it twice.
