50 years after

UALR today released another in its series of surveys on racial attitudes in the Little Rock area. You can see all the results here.

Fifty years after the Little Rock school crisis, UALR says:

* Nearly all survey respondents believe the event is still having an impact here, mostly positive.

* Most believe association with different races is important and that the number of people who dislike others on account of race is small. But a disproportionate number of blacks believe they were treated unfairly in school on account of race.

* There's been growth of black people in managerial jobs, but on the family front, the figures aren't so good -- a decline in the percentage of black families headed by a couple and a rise in single-mother black households.
