The Little Rock Marathon has clearly achieved "event" velocity and I think it's precisely because it's an event for all, not just hard-body racers. Perfect day for it, sunny and cool. There were friendly crowds everywhere I stopped in the course of shuttling a couple of people to relay segments and strolling along the rolling party along Kavanaugh. Cowbells at Pulaski Heights Baptist. A man in a chicken suit passing out beers a few blocks down. A band at Delta Trust. An acoustic duo singing Beatles tunes down near Midland. Dogs. Kids. Smiles. Waves.
It's organized to a fault, from my vantage point. Aid stations. Maps. Traffic wardens. Care and attention for everyone. It's really an event for the city to be proud of.
