Attorney General Dustin McDaniel seeks a plug for a piece of consumer legislation before the House Transportation Committee today. I'm happy to oblige.
It's real simple. It would put an affirmative duty on car rebuilders to identify rebuilt wrecks as rebuilt wrecks on the titles. An unwrecked Camry sells for more than a wrecked Camry, but too often in Arkansas, the titles don't always tell the story. McDaniel says a rebuilder in Conway made millions buying up Katrina-damaged cars and reselling them with clean titles.
McDaniel thinks he has the votes for SB 295 if all supporters are in the meeting. 'preciate a good vote.
UPDATE: No vote today.
