Bad news for Arkansas if The Commercial Appeal in Memphis is correct.
Tupelo, Miss., has been chosen for a new Toyota assembly plant, not Marion, Ark. And not Chattanooga. According to the CA, Tennessee and Arkansas officials have been notified and the formal announcement is Tuesday morning.
(I don't believe the Gulf Opportunity Zone bonds are a factor here, as they were in the German steelmaker's choice of Mobile recently. Tupelo appears to be outside the portion of Mississippi eligible for that advantageous financing.)
