The House made quick work of the bill to criminalize usurious payday lending. 90 members voted for it.

So, you ask, who were the 10 who failed to vote for this legislation to prevent charging the poorest and neediest interest rates in the 300 percent range? Glad you asked.

Voting against the bill were Aaron Burkes of Lowell, David Dunn of Forrest City and Frank Glidewell of Fort Smith.

Voting present, same as a vote against the bill, were Ray Kidd of Jonesboro and Charlotte Wagner of Manila.

Absent, or not voting, were Dan Greenberg of Little Rock, Tommy Baker of Osceola, Michael Lamoureux of Russellville, JonWoods of Springdale and Speaker Benny Petrus (the speaker traditionally does not vote).

PS -- Greenberg, a co-sponsor of the bill, says he believes the voting machine malfunctioned and that he thought he had voted yes.
