Gov. Mike Beebe's grocery tax cut legislation was filed yesterday. And it was a slightly rueful occasion for John Brummett. He'd written a column for print quoting a couple of good sources predicting a sharp split in the Senate between those favoring the tax cut and a movement to focus tax relief on income tax help for poorer families.
Oops. Things sometimes change overnight. The Senate bill is now sponsored by just about every senator. Passage seems assured. The fight will turn to the House. We take you to our link of Brummett, which contains a revision of the early version you'll see in our print edition, plus his blog item yesterday explaining all this.
