Here's a report from a Dallas newspaper on the fact that, more than two years after opening, the Clinton Library has not yet posted a promised listing of donors to the $165 million project. The Bush Library at Texas A&M has posted most of those who contributed to that project. There are questions about the extent of disclosure to be done for a Bush II library at SMU.

As luck would have it, I was on a nationally syndicated radio show yesterday talking about presidential politics -- mostly Hillary Clinton, but also a taste of Mike Huckabee -- and my opposite number, a writer for the conservative Human Events magazine, spent a fair amount of time talking about how Clinton's opponents would make hay out of connections betweeen people who'd given big money for her husband for speaking fees and in support of his library. That will be true in the latter case, of course, only if they know who they are.

The Dallas story also noted about legislation that could begin to require some disclosure of contributions to libraries:

Veteran fundraisers say mandatory disclosure could make the job harder.

"It could have a chilling effect," said Skip Rutherford, former head of the foundation for the William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Ark.
