Somebody asked about the list of registered lobbyists. This is the latest version I can find for 2007 at the secretary of state's office. Just for fun, I searched through it for Deltic lobbyists. Its representatives have said it has no intention of trying again this session to cripple Central Arkansas Water's control of the Lake Maumelle watershed. We'll see. For whatever reason, five people are registered to lobby for them -- Brent Stevenson, Kenneth Camp, Chris Stewart, Jim Julian, and Tim Wooldridge.
We also took a look at Wal-Mart, which is beefing up its state lobbying efforts. It has nine people registered, including three former legislators -- Bill Bevis, Courtney Sheppard and Ernest Cunningham -- and two old friends of Gov. Mike Beebe. Those would be Don Tilton and Ruth Whitney. (Jim Walton has his own lobbyist, Burton Stacy.)
