Seems only fitting that we follow the lead of every radio show and coffee shop in Arkansas today and talk about the most vexing problem facing our state -- football.
To start things off, here's a new website (the Committee to Save the Hogs) raising money -- about $2,700 so far through Paypal -- to place an ad in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette calling on Frank Broyles and Houston Nutt to step down. (Don't they need to add Jim Lindsey to that ad, too?)
UPDATE -- David Lee is again rejoining the Hog staff to be Nutt's offensive co-ordinator and quarterback coach. He comes from the Dallas Cowboys. He's with the program. One of the boards quotes him as knocking the Springdale parents who complained to Frank Broyles about treatment of their kids. Lee said he's never heard of such a thing.
Can Nutt make all this about the ungrateful kids and Malzahn? Could be interesting to see it develop. Testimony was offered on the radio to how long Malzahn spent at altar call Sunday at Armani Ronnie's Temple of Baptist Athletics, indicating Coach Gus' movement to Tulsa may have been divinely inspired. Frank Broyles is only Christ of the Ozarks, not of the whole universe.
ALSO: Be sure to check Fort Smith sports editor Scott Faldon's column on the dishonesty dealt Malzahn by the head Hogs. (You'll have to scroll down a bit after opening the link to see the copy.)
UPDATE II: Hogman Jim Harris says Marcus Monk and other players have scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference to say everything is hunky dory on the hill. Unprompted by Daddy Frank or Houston Dale, no doubt. This is one of those times to wish we were in the business of selling newspapers. The D-G will fly off racks for the sports coverage tomorrow.
