A school board member tells me, surprise, that the Walton-financed education reform department at Walton University in Fayetteville will report to the Little Rock School Board at its agenda meeting tonight on its "study" of Walton-beloved merit pay experiments in the school district. I'm guessing that the experiments will be pronounced successful.
This study's presence on the agenda wasn't announced previously. It comes as a surprise to the Little Rock Classroom Teachers Association. Of course, so did the merit pay experiments, which were undertaken without public discussion or vote and in violation of teacher contracts. I was told the presentation was sought tonight because the Walton forces will be using this information at the legislature to back their merit pay legislation. How convenient.
