Stephens Media reports that UA President Alan Sugg says the university will find a more “appropriate” way to fund cancer research and endow a chair for Gov. Mike Huckabee’s fat doctor at UAMS than to accept money diverted by the governor from legislative appropriations to unappropriated uses. How nice of him to agree to obey the law.

Unanswered is what trickery had initially been planned by UA to get around the law in this instance. And how they justify the need for which this money was originally appropriated. Huckabee has gone into hiding on the issue, refusing to explain how it was legal to say  that he was going to take GIF appropriations for one purpose and divert them to another.
