A reliable source, quoting city director Stacy Hurst, says restaurateur Mary Beth Ringgold has resigned from the Little Rock Advertising and Promotion Commission. The Commission has been under fire, in part because of spending at her restaurants.
UPDATE: Here's the resgination letter, distributed by the city:
Little Rock Board of Directors
Although I would be enthusiastic to spend the last five months of my commission tenure assisting the commission and the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau with it’s restructuring, I believe that has become a situation where the public relations damage will prohibit me from being helpful.
Little Rock is a great city and my passion for nine years has been to promote it. Though I wanted to fix the true and untrue allegations made against the A&P Convention, it now appears that can be done more effectively by a new Chairman. I will continue supporting the city in any way I can. My resignation is effective immediately.
Mary Beth Ringgold
