Rising Attorney General Dustin McDaniel announces that former Sen. Allen Gordon of Morrilton will lobby for the a.g. Sorry. Be his "legislative liaison."

The former legislator/lobbyist ranks continue to grow. But, lest we be too hard -- I've heard that in the era of term limits memories are short. Someone who was a legislator 10 years ago might bring knowhow to the lobbying table, but not necessarily any fruitful past relationships.

Release on the jump.

MCDANIEL NEWS RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK– Attorney General-Elect Dustin McDaniel announced today that former State Senator Allen Gordon of Morrilton will be joining the new administration as Legislative Liaison.   He is currently a third-generation partner at Gordon, Caruth and Virden in Morrilton, a firm which his grandfather started in 1909.

“Allen has the experience, understanding, and integrity that is required of a Legislative Liaison,” McDaniel said.  “As a distinguished member of the State Senate, Gordon proved to be knowledgeable in the processes and procedures that take place at the Capitol,” added McDaniel.  “I am confident he will be able to draw from those experiences to meet the demands of his new position and to continue serving the State of Arkansas.”

Gordon represented the 25th District in the Arkansas State Senate for eighteen years where he served as Vice Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee.  He is also past-president and current member of the Conway County Bar Association, member of the Arkansas Bar Association where he served in the House of Delegates, and is a member American Bar Association.  He is also a past-president and current member of the Arkansas Trial Lawyers Association and a member the Association of Trial Lawyers of America.

“We are working hard on my legislative package to bring to fruition the goals I talked about during my campaign, including cracking down on identity theft, sexual predators, and meth use,” said McDaniel.  “The package will also include a number of consumer protection bills, and I am looking forward to Allen working hard to ensure we have a successful legislative session,” McDaniel concluded.
