The Little Rock Airport Commission met at some length today. As we indicated might happen, Commissioner Carl Johnson announced he intended to withdraw from seeking the minority contractor portion of the airport’s concession contract. Rising Mayor Mark Stodola, whose law firm has been the airport’s legal counsel, announced that the firm would immediately begin the process of withdrawing from that work. There will be a 180-day transition period for the firm to complete some pending cases.

According to Chairman Larry Lichty, the withdrawals were warmly received by others on the commission. Lichty said he hoped to introduce a commissioner’s manual and a code of ethics agreement similar to documents he’d urged the City Board to adopt when he was a member to help members guide future actions.

Good for Johnson. Good for Stodola. The visibility is much improved at the airport.
