Plenty of news coming in tomorrow's papers. The Foley study may not have produced formal charges , but it found negligence, coverup and plenty of evidence that people who said they had no idea had an idea about his suspicious conduct with pages. The boy king, Oedipus Tex as NY Bill calls him, clearly is going to diss James Baker's report and snub the opportunity for cover to try to extricate himself from the mess he created. Fine, he's the president. He can keep banging his head against a wall expecting it to start feeling good after a while. It is a shame that his path has so many deadly consequences. Surprise. He's at an all-time low in the polls.
Have at these topics. Or anything else.
PS -- Tonight's literary reference. NY Bill thinks Tex Ozymandias is the better moniker for the petulant prez, and sends along a link to an old Robyn Blumner column in St. Pete Times with this lead:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.
- Percy Bysshe Shelley
Like a modern day Ozymandias, President Bush doesn't know that his legacy has already crumbled, leaving nothing but ruin behind.
