Get ready to vote

Having paid for a parking place through 33 years of employment downtown, I'm not so sympathetic to Circuit Clerk Pat O'Brien's plea yesterday for more tax money to pay for parking for his employees. But, unlike some others, I'm wholly supportive of his request for more money to improve digital access to court records. It will be faster and easier and, in time, more reliable and open public documents to people who don't know how to get to the courthouse (or be able to find a parking place if they did.)

The thought occurs to me after trying out a slick little feature O'Brien unveiled today -- the virtual ballot. If you have access to a computer (and of course you do), you can look up how the general election ballot will look before you vote. You have to be registered in the county. If you are, go here. Then click on voter lookup. Once you get your record, click on your name and you'll be taken to a page where you can click on a sample ballot. It worked perfectly for us.
