It was too good a night not to go to a football game. So I did. Central 14, Cabot 12. The Tigers remain undefeated, heading to a showdown with NLR.
Cabot, which supports its team famously at home, sent maybe 150 to 200 people to Quigley, not counting the band and pep squads. Cabot, now in the same conference with Central, now must play the Tigers home-and-home. In recent years, Cabot paid Central a bonus to always play the Panthers in Cabot. All promised this had nothing to do with racial politics. Just as, I'm sure, it was merely that most everybody in Cabot had more pressing obligations tonight that prevented them from driving a few miles down the freeway to Quigley.
Noted: Both schools have big, good bands. Both play "On Wisconsin" as the school fight song.
Consider this an open line.
