ARKANSAS HOMELESS COALITION NEWS RELEASE
Kicking off the first of several events planned in September to promote homeless awareness The Hour of Prayer for the Homeless and the Walk to the Capitol are this Saturday on the 9th. We will gather at 8th and Scott Streets outside the StewPot in Little Rock, walk to the State Capitol, and have Prayer for the Homeless at 4 p.m. on the steps of the State Capitol. This is the first of several events that we have scheduled around homeless awareness in September. You are invited and encouraged to participate by walking and/or by gathering at the Capitol for Prayer.
On September 15th, the Homeless Awareness Sleep-Out event will take place under the Broadway Bridge. Arkansas First Lady Janet Huckabee will again join us for her second Sleep-Out. Participants will gather at 6 p.m. in the parking lot of the Arkansas Supportive Housing Network at 501 Maple Street in North Little Rock and walk to the Broadway Bridge. We will spend the night sleeping under the Broadway Bridge, so particiapnts really only need to bring a sleeping bag, or plan to rough it as the homeless on a peice of cardboard. I will have a sleeping bag!
