News conference this morning:

This week, Paron High School, a performing and financially-sound school in rural Saline County, was closed down because of rigid and inflexible bureaucratic standards. Hutchinson will discuss measures he will take to support small schools in Arkansas from unnecessary closure.

By performing he means opening the doors to class and activity offerings that are a tiny fraction of that available in nearby districts; financially sound means operating at a substandard level at a cost 30 percent or so higher than the more efficient high school down the road; rigid and inflexible bureacratic standards he means the law's requirement of adequate education for all, even if it means a long bus ride and or if it simply means parents might have to choose a well-performing school with a rich curriculum 15 miles down the road (such as Joe T. Robinson).
