Travelerocity, the spicy local blog
on Arkansas Travelers baseball,
has some pithy words worth reading about the conduct of minor league baseball affairs in Springdale and North Little Rock. Both cities like public tax money, but both like to operate in secret. Up in Springdale, the chamber of commerce nabob who helped narrowly pass a tax to pay for a new ballyard up there, is meeting one-on-one with elected officials to avoid a Freedom of Information Act trigger that would allow the public to hear what's being discussed about the venue they're building. Same thing in NLR about meetings concerning cost overruns at the frabjous new Traveler pleasure palace. It's just your tax money. How it's spent, or misspent, is none of your darn business.
