The Arkansas House of Representatives and the Arkansas Senate will meet in joint session at 5 p.m., Wednesday, July 19, in the House chamber for a memorial service honoring the late Lieutenant Governor Win Rockefeller.
Members of the House and Senate, along with state constitutional officers, members of the Arkansas Supreme Court and invited employees and directors of cabinet-level agencies will be on the House floor during the service. As tentatively scheduled, following an opening prayer, speakers will include Speaker of the House Bill H. Stovall III, Senate President Pro Tempore Jim Argue and Gov. Mike Huckabee. The service will conclude with a prayer shortly before 6 p.m., at which time all those in attendance will be invited to a brief service on the second-floor rotunda. The evening will close with the escort of Lieutenant Governor Rockefeller from the Capitol.
The secretary of state’s office will operate a shuttle system during the time Mr. Rockefeller lies in state, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday. The shuttle will run from parking lots near the Arkansas Real Estate Commission, southwest of the Capitol, at 612 S. Summit St.
