The Republicans have pulled back on a vote
on the Welfare for Waltons bill -- the enormous cut in the estate tax. They apparently don't have the votes. Could Mark Pryor
again be a critical player, as on the flag amendment? If so, good show. A compromise is possible on this measure, one that would end for all time even any lip service to the nonsense that this is about protecting small businesses. But the cost of the pending "compromise" is unconscionable -- three-quarters the cost of total repeal.
