LR Mayor Jim Dailey has called for a city wide day of prayer Saturday or Sunday, depending on when services are held, as a response to a rise in violent crime.
"This is not the only solution the city is seeking," he said in a prepared statement. "The City Board and I remain strongly committed to the leadership of the city manager and Police Department in addressing this issue. But there are times that all the policing in the world will not alleviate the causes. Many of these homicides are being committed by people who have lost hope. I believe the faith community has a role in restoring that hope."
Help our memory. Did the NRA succeed in making guns legal in churches again, along with taverns and parks?
