It's the 50th anniversary edition of the Pink Tomato Festival in Warren this weekend and we're honored by notes from our Warren bureau chief, Jim Harris:
PARADE: Everyone running for state office this year showed. Shoffner brought up rear, said she arrived on "wing and a prayer" just in time. Halter told an old lady "I'm literally running" as he shook hands with everyone and still kept up with car. Beebe brought an army -- a bunch of cars, people and a big bus. Asa and his crew walked the whole way. Rod Bryan got there in vegetable oil car and rode bike with solar pwoered soumd system. He rode the route twice. Huck and Pryor were no shows. Lincoln sent a truck with a sign.
LEGAL ALIENS: According to a local tomato farmer, properly documented Mexican workers are being detained (for more than a week) at the border. As a result pink tomatoes hang on the vines. Go Bush!
CANDIDATES TOMATO EATING CONTEST: Mac Campbell won. Got juice all over the other candidates.
