Four former chairs of the Arkansas Democratic Party -- Herby Branscum, Vaughn McQuary, Ron Oliver and Betsey Wright -- today endorsed Bill Halter in his race against Tim Wooldridge for the Democratic nomination for lieutenant governor.
An e-mail letter about the endorsement will be sent this afternoon to state Democrats, which you can read in full after the jump.
P.S.: Ron Oliver has been an informal advisor to Halter's campaign since its nascent stages, back when Halter was exploring a run for governor.
Dear Fellow Democrats,
With early voting now underway and the Tuesday, June 13th runoff election fast approaching, we are writing to respectfully ask that you cast your ballot for Democrat Bill Halter for Lieutenant Governor.
We are endorsing Mr. Halter because he shares our commitment to the future of our Party and the future of our state. He is the only candidate with a thoughtful and comprehensive plan to make our schools excellent and to build and attract high-paying jobs.
As former Democratic Party Chairs, we believe Bill Halter is the best Democrat for lieutenant governor and the best candidate to help Mike Beebe become governor. He is the only candidate whom we can count on to protect our environment, fully-fund pre-kindergarten, increase college scholarships, retain and attract teachers, and use his business experience to improve economic development throughout our state. We also believe he is a candidate we can depend upon to put Arkansas families ahead of special interests.
Once again, we ask you to vote between now and Tuesday, June 13th for Bill Halter, the real and best Democrat for Lieutenant Governor.
Herby Branscum, Former Chair, Arkansas Democratic Party
Vaughn McQuary, Former Chair, Arkansas Democratic Party
Ron Oliver, Former Chair, Arkansas Democratic Party
