Appeals Court Judge Wendell Griffen has conceded his race for Supreme Court against Paul Danielson. News release on the jump.

JUDGE WENDELL GRIFFEN MAY 24, 2006 POST-ELECTION STATEMENT

Based on an unofficial tally of most of the voting precincts, Judge Paul Danielson appears likely to win the election for Position 5 on the Arkansas Supreme Court.  I congratulate Judge Danielson, his family, and his supporters on that accomplishment, and extend best wishes to him as he prepares to begin work on the Arkansas Supreme Court.

I also take this opportunity to thank my wife, our sons, and my supporters.  We developed and conducted a cost-effective and informative campaign unlike any other in the history of Arkansas judicial elections.  Patricia, Martyn, and Elliott helped me endure the personal demands of campaigning.  My campaign leadership helped me conduct the campaign with candor, integrity, and in keeping with my unflinching commitment to democracy, the rule of law, and our system of justice.  Many people throughout Arkansas and elsewhere welcomed our campaign and played a role in it.  I thank everyone for the wonderful support you have given.

Patricia, Martyn, Elliott, and I will now take a well-earned rest and reverently observe the Memorial Day weekend.  Please join us in reverent thankfulness to the past and current members of the armed forces and their families, and in reverent thanksgiving for their sacrifices on behalf of our freedoms and democracy.

I look forward to returning to my duties on the Court of Appeals, and continuing the work of producing justice in our courts and society.
