Comment here on the Democratic primary race for attorney general. Who's the next Ray Thornton-Jim Guy Tucker-Bill Clinton-Mike Beebe? Or is the McDaniel-Suskie-Herzfeld winner naught but a Joe Purcell?
FIRST RETURNS: Huge early lead for McDaniel, with 44 percent, and Herzfeld trailing with 30. But there are no Pulaski votes in the totals so far. Presumably, Suskie will run stronger in Pulaski.. (Indeed, a reader says Suskie numbers in precinct he saw were huge in Pulaski. So hang on.)
LATER: Regional differences evened out and McDaniel still held a lead, but Suskie was closing on Herzfeld with the promise of a huge pickup in Pulaski based on his wide margin in the one box that was released, the big early voting total. Suskie had 59 percent in that box. We go to bed with the prospect of all three candidates bunched in the 30s, but McDaniel and Suskie trending toward a runoff.
