A so-called property rights activist made a talk up in NW Ark. yesterday about the evils of state efforts to protect sensitive waterways. We were drawn to a paragraph in the lengthy Morning News article about Connie Burks. It followed a statement that state protections were intended to protect streams from the ravages of gravel mining.
Burks said that designated streams were now starting to suffer from gravel congestion because they had not been mined and urged Brown to investigate the matter further. Burks said the Kings River has been hurt as a result of its designated status.
