The previous item about President Bush finally taking action against high gas prices might have something to do with a CNN poll released yesterday showing him with a 32 percent job approval rating -- his lowest ever. 60 percent said they disapprove of his performance.
Dissatisfaction with their leader appears to parallel Americans' unhappiness over gas prices. More than two-thirds of Americans (69 percent) said recent increases in the cost of gasoline have caused them hardship, with 28 percent saying they have not, and 1 percent saying they have no opinion.
Only two other presidents in the last 50 years have had a 60-percent disapproval rating: Richard Nixon and George H.W. Bush.
