The Old State House Museum will open “Things You Need to Hear: Memories of Growing Up in Arkansas” on Saturday, Feb. 18. The exhibition is built around oral histories, artifacts and themes of community, family, work, school and leisure, and was curated by Dr. Margaret Jones Bolsterli, the author of several books on Arkansas history and a former professor of English at the University of Arkansas.

There will be a reception from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday evening. On Thursday, Feb. 16, Bolsterli will give the noon Brown Bag Lunch Lecture and sign her book, “Things You Need to Hear: Memories of Growing Up in Arkansas from 1890 to 1980,” published by the University of Arkansas Press.
