Max forwarded me an e-mail from Jim Harris with some sad news for Arkansas food. The Sno-White Grill in Pine Bluff will close for good on Feb. 14. The restaurant opened in 1936 and has been a mainstay of the local community ever since. Bobby Garner, who has owned the restaurant since 1970, put a lot of blood, sweat, and tears into the place, and according to Rex Nelson, as of 2009 (and at the age of 73) was still opening the place up every morning at 5:30 a.m.
The restaurant regularly placed in various readers choice polls, and I’ve heard more than once that their hamburgers were among the best in the state. The restaurant business is hard work, though, so if Mr. Garner has decided to take a rest, I’d say he’s earned it. Best of luck to all who have called the Sno-White home.
