In our on-going quest to bring all of you the latest food news, we’ve instituted Foodie Feedback Friday, a discussion of what and where folks are eating. As a companion segment, we’d like to introduce the Monday Food News Roundup, a sort of open thread and clearing house for anything interesting we’ve come across from our local food bloggers and area restaurants as well as tidbits from around the web. Read something about food you’d like to share? Let us know in the comments!
*Capital Hotel: We announced here last week that the Capital Hotel has named Chef Joël Antunes as the replacement for the departed Lee Richardson. Local blogger Christie Ison has some more information about the new chef over on her blog, Fancy Pants Foodie.
*Social media: In this day and age, a strong social media presence is almost as important to a restaurant as a good menu and staff. For blogger Kevin Shalin, a lot of Little Rock restaurants are seriously missing the boat with social media, which he thoughtfully discusses over at his blog The Mighty Rib.
*Meet a blogger: From NWA Foodie, a profile of blogger Beth Stephens, including a tour of her kitchen. If you’ve ever felt like you didn’t have the facilities to make great food, this is a great example of people making delicious things in a kitchen just like yours.
*End of the World Ice Cream: The ladies of Loblolly Creamery
will be offering $3 pints of ice cream all day on December 21st. Celebrate the end of the world with a pint of the South’s best ice cream for half price!
*Recipe of the week: Just in time for Christmas comes our recipe of the week, a Fresh Apple Cake from Terri’s Table blogger Terri Powers. Terri has been baking it up for the holiday season, so be sure to check her archives for a host of good things to cook.
*Monday time-waster: Finally, if you’re in the mood to waste a little time, here’s a fun foodie flash game for you involving a cat who can’t get enough sushi.
