This evening, the Hillary for Arkansas campaign will open its first official office in the state, a press release from the Hillary Clinton campaign said. The Little Rock office will be located in Suite 101 of the Tower Building, on Center and 4th Streets (the same building that houses the Arkansas Attorney General’s offices).

Worth noting: Bernie Sanders has had an official campaign presence in Little Rock for some time now. Sarah Scanlon, the state director of the Sanders campaign, said the group’s office in Little Rock has been open since the first of November and another office is operational in Fayetteville. I’ve asked the Hillary for Arkansas staff why they’ve waited so long to open an office; I’ll update this post if I get a reply.

UPDATE: Mary Rutherford Jennings, the press secretary for Hillary for Arkansas, clarified to me that the campaign has been organizing volunteers in Little Rock for some time, but that it’s been operating on a more unofficial basis thus far. “We’ve had an office for months, but [the space in the Tower Building] will serve as our official headquarters,” Jennings said.

According to a poll released over the weekend, Clinton leads Sanders among Arkansas Democrats by a more than two-to-one margin, 57 – 25, with 18 percent of voters still undecided.

Scanlon said she’s expecting campaign operations to ramp up over the coming weeks, especially after tomorrow’s primary in New Hampshire. Arkansas’s primary elections are on March 1st, along with a number of other states, including Texas, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota and Vermont. “I’m anticipating that there’s going to be an influx of people into March 1st states after New Hampshire,” Scanlon said.
