Between a production mix up and a weird holiday schedule, we’ve got no video news today. And actually, we likely won’t be producing videos throughout the coming week, because most of the Times staff will be out of the office until next Thursday, Jan. 7.

Videos will resume as normal next Thursday, if not sooner. Max will resume blogging between now and then.

It’s a slow day in the news world, but we’ve been busy working on a special issue of the paper … and that’s led me to discover some incredible photos of minerals found near Magnet Cove, a place thought to contain more distinct minerals than almost anywhere else on Earth. I don’t know anything about minerals or geology.
