ON THE MARCH: Demonstration on Broadway this morning. Brian Chilson

Commuters who use Broadway downtown and stop at the string of fast-food shops there be on the alert: Fast-food workers are scheduled to be staging a demonstration there again this morning. A previous demonstration briefly blocked traffic.

This is part of the Fight for $15 campaign to press Walmart and major fast-food chains to lift minimum wages to $15 an hour. Workers from several fast-food chains in Little Rock are expected to participate in a demonstration that is expected to be replicated in dozens of cities nationwide.

Demonstrators marched in front of 617 Broadway. They were peaceful and didn’t disrupt traffic. Police mustered in the even of a need for arrests, but there were none.

A guest column in this week’s Times explains the action.
