Little Rock Mayor Mark Stodola Brian Chilson

The noon deadline today for filing as a candidate for Little Rock office has come and gone, and  Mayor Mark Stodola did not draw an opponent. He’ll be elected to his third four-year term. Benny Johnson, of the Stop the Violence group, has been critical of the mayor for the city’s use of police resources in the inner city and had been considering the race.

Ward 5 Director Lance Hines and Ward Seven Director BJ Wyrick are also unopposed.

Elsewhere:

Ward 1: Herbert Broadway, Robert Webb and musician Grayson Shelton filed to oppose Erma Hendrix. As Max has pointed out, a crowded race likely benefits Hendrix. Plurality wins in these elections.

Ward 3: Former state Rep. Kathy Webb and Geoffrey Yamauchi have filed to replace Ward 3 Director Stacy Hurst, who’s running for state representative. Webb is a shoo-in.

Ward 6Sandy Becker is challenging Director Doris Wright.
