“Hunger Games” is the free feature at Movies in the Park at the Riverfest Amphitheater tonight, but they might as well call it Little Rock Cops I.
Because of some gunfire nearby (but no injuries) last week, the police will be out in force tonight. Said a news release:
The Little Rock Police Department wants to ensure a peaceful and enjoyable night at Movies in the Park. The department has assigned officers from the River Market, SWAT, Motorcycle Squad and the School Resource Officers Units. That would put a total of eight (8) supervisors and 42 officers in the River Market area.
In conjunction with additional personnel, we will be utilizing the Portable Sky Towers that we use during River Fest and the Arkansas State Fair. The School Resource Officers have experience
dealing with juveniles and will assist with crowd control both inside and outside of the venue. SWAT will provide additional coverage on the perimeter and the Motorcycle Squad will assist with pedestrian traffic during and after the venue. We hope that everyone will come out and enjoy an awesome movie and great weather at Movies in the Park.
Let’s hope the rest of the city is quiet.
